We’ll explore a variety of styles, from bottom-up rolls to mountain rolls. By the end, your arrangements will sound lush, complete, and ready to impress!

“”Lara’s Theme” from Dr. Zhivago” -Let’s learn this beautiful love song! It is the perfect tune to get comfortable with chromatic notes. The sweeping melody is reminiscent of Russian balalaikas and is always a crowd pleaser!

 

Friday 4:15-5:15 Session 5K Hammered Dulcimer Intermediate

“Cielito Lindo: A Mexican Love Song” -This Mexican beauty is a gorgeous waltz with syncopation. We’ll explore ways to play it in a traditional Mexican waltz style and add harmony too! Learn how to play tremolos and more in this fun workshop!

 

Saturday 8:45-10:00 Session 6K Hammered Dulcimer Intermediate

“The Gospel of Mark” -We’re going to take 2 of the most popular hymns and learn how to play them well so we’re ready for the next jam and be able to play with confidence. We’ll also learn some harmonies and fillers.

 

Saturday 10:15-11:30 Session 7L Hammered Dulcimer Advanced

“It Had to Be You” -This catchy tune is as fun to play as it is to hear. We’ll learn how to play the melody while interjecting the chromatic counter melody that gives this piece its charm. Although it’s filled with hand independence, it’s actual quite intuitive to play.

 

Saturday 2:30-3:45 Session 9K Hammered Dulcimer Intermediate

“Authentically Irish: “Tuttle’s Reel”” -Let’s learn this insanely fun jig from my new book and learn what we can do to sound more Irish when we play it. Mark will show you some hammer patterns that will help put the emphasis on the right beats to sound Irish, as well as some authentic Irish ornaments to add.
