We will focus on basic strumming patterns as we learn to play a few easy traditional tunes. A Capo? Using a Capo and Changing Keys. - Using a capo can be a bit intimidating for some. But using it with your mountain dulcimer can expand your ability to go beyond the key of D. We will explore playing a tune in E minor, G and A by placing a capo at different frets, as well as how you place it on your instrument. Yes, you will need a capo.

Traditional Love Songs of the Appalachian Mountains.-February is often the month we often think about love. What better time to come learn traditional love songs of the mountains, including the Carter tune "The Storms are on the Ocean". These songs are arranged for the novice player in D-A-D, but we will try one in the traditional mountain minor tuning of D-A-C. Have your tuner on hand. Our hearts will be filled with stories of love.

Give Me That Old Time Religion.-Come learn some traditional old time gospel tunes including "Old Time Religion". For this class we will learn to play easy arrangements of familiar gospel and spiritual tunes chord melody and traditional strumming styles.
