Friday 4:15-5:15 Session 5G Mountain Dulcimer Advanced

“No, You Don’t Need Any More Notes” -The topics include playing in the key of C while tunes to DAD, using string bends to achieve chromatic notes, and playing in the key of D with alternative tunings. The focus will also be on how to apply these techniques effectively and deciding when and where to use them.

 

Saturday 10:15-11:30 Session 7D Mountain Dulcimer Intermediate

“Right-Hand Dominance” -We’ll focus on the essential techniques for the right hand, including fundamentals, rhythm, strumming patterns, accented rhythms, and dynamics. Additionally, you’ll learn how to strum fluidly, smoothly, sparsely (and even quickly), while incorporating a backbeat! This will cover everything necessary to begin developing a strong and solid strumming hand. Be sure to bring the thinnest dulcimer available to you.

 

Saturday 1:00-2:15 Session 8G Mountain Dulcimer Advanced

“Cornwall” -Discover a beautiful tune by Albert d’Ossche. You can play it with either flat-picking or fingerpicking, and it’s a great way to explore two-finger or double-stop chords. You don’t even need a 6.5 fret! DAD tuning.

 

Saturday 4:15-5:15 Session 10G Mountain Dulcimer Advanced

“The 5 Pitfalls in Contemporary Dulcimer Arranging” -More people are bringing contemporary tunes to the Mountain Dulcimer, which is exciting. In the season, you’ll learn about common pitfalls and how to avoid them. DAD tuning, capo required.
