“”Sky Boat Song”-Duet” -We’ll play “Sky Boat Song” as a lovely duet. You will get both parts and can learn one or both parts and take turns playing the primary part and the secondary part. (Other instruments welcome to this duet in key of G.)

 

Friday 10:15-11:30 Session 2R Bowed Psaltery

“”Loch Lomond” with a Propper Scottish Lilt” -We’ll learn the lovely Scottish air “Loch Lomond” and then add traditional Scottish ornaments. Once you’ve learned the various Scottish ornaments in this class, you’ll be able to add a Scottish lilt to any of your favorite songs. (Other instruments welcome, as these ornaments translate to other instruments. We’ll be in the key of G.)

 

Friday 1:00-2:15 Session 3R Bowed Psaltery

“”Will Ye Go, Lassie, Go? (Wild Mountain Thyme)” Irish Air for All Levels” -You’ll play the lovely Irish air, “Will Ye Go, Lassie, Go?”, in parts for players of all levels! We’ll go over all parts, a slow drone, the tune, and a counter melody, so you decide which part fits your level. No matter your playing level, pick your comfort sone and play along.

 

Saturday 8:45-10:00 Session 6E Mountain Dulcimer Intermediate

“How to Transpose without Transposing -DAA Noter/Drone” -So you’ve got a song you want to play but it’s not in D. Never fear! Learn this way of playing your song without the tedious task of transposing. We’ll take several songs (such as “All Through the Night” in Ab major) in several keys and learn a” so you’ll be able to take this home and do it with any song. (This is a DAA Noter/Drone class.)

 

Saturday 2:30-3:45 Session 9C Mountain Dulcimer Novice

“The Traditional Significance of Noter Style” -DAA Noter/Drone -Who were the people that shunned the coastal towns of the colonies and went into the depths of the Appalachian Mountains to settle there and develop the Appalachian Mountain Dulcimer? Hear the reason the noter/drone style was so dear to their hearts as we slide the noter across the frets for that lovely iconic twang from note to note. As we explore these Appalachian Mountain dulcimer roots, we will learn “Amazing Grace” and “Scotland the Brave”, because, yes, Scotland is involved. (This is a DAA Noter/Drone class.)

 

Saturday 4:15-5:15 Session 10B Mountain Dulcimer Beginner/Novice

“Let’s Start and the Very Beginning DO-RE-Mi” -DAA Noter/Drone -Why DAA? Why are the frets where they are? As Julie Andrews sang, “Let’s start at the very beginning” and explore the diatonic De-Re-Mi-Fa-So-La-Ti-Do scale in relation to your dulcimer fret spacings. We’ll see how the ingenious Appalachian Mountain people created this instrument to allow for easy play-by-ear musicianship. And, yes!, we will learn Julie Andrews’ iconic song “D0-Re-Mi. (This is a DAA Noter/Drone class.)
