              Folk Hymns from the Shaped Note Tradition. - Powerful expressions from our rural congregational singing heritage, singing schools, and camp meeting revivals, these tunes are expressed so beautifully on the mountain dulcimer. 

Friday 4:15-5:15 Session 5H Hammered Dulcimer Intermediate/Advanced

             Shetland Reel Medley - Get your hammers flying and toes tapping with two lively session tunes so well suited for the hammered dulcimer. We will look at options for mapping melodies in the most efficient and compact patterns, taking into consideration unison notes. You will also enjoy some fun rhythmic syncopation and accent. 

Saturday 8:45-10:00 Session 6A Mountain Dulcimer Beginner

              Continuing the Journey - Now that you can play a tune or two, let's approach a couple of new tunes focusing on refining some basic techniques and skills. Get more comfortable with strumming and become aware of the value of effective finger placement. 

Saturday 10:15-11:30 Session 7K Autoharp

Tunes from America's Folk Poets - Travel back to the Dustbowl days and the Antebellum South as we enjoy playing and singing tunes from Stephen Foster, Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger and others.

Saturday 2:30-3:45 Session 9A Mountain Dulcimer Beginner

A Chording We Will Go - Begin to understand and practice the use of basic two and three finger chords for embellishment, playing chord melody and enhancing the enjoyment of jam sessions. Get a step ahead, be understanding how chords relate to the notes of the scale.

Saturday 4:15-5:15 Session 10G Hammered Dulcimer Beginner/Novice

            Firming the Foundation-Start refining and enhancing basic skills and techniques to increase the ease and enjoyment of playing this lovely instrument. We'll focus on efficient melody mapping, "tuning" up the ear, hammer technique and patterns, and helpful ideas for productive practice.
